Winkworth Arboretum

Winkworth Arboretum offers a calmer, more contemplative version of Surrey countryside walking, with winding woodland trails, ornamental trees, lakes and carefully designed viewpoints spread across a hillside near Godalming. Managed by the National Trust, it is best known for its autumn colour, when the landscape turns into one of Surrey’s most photogenic outdoor spaces, but the gardens remain attractive throughout the year. Unlike larger countryside estates, the atmosphere here feels quieter and slower paced, making it particularly well suited to gentle walks, photography and low-key weekend afternoons.
