Reigate Hill is a National Trust countryside site on the North Downs above Reigate, combining chalk escarpment, woodland and open parkland with far-reaching views south across the Weald. Three marked trails (2 to 3.5 miles) take in the 19th-century Reigate Fort, built to defend London, plus memorials and a military history route. It suits walkers, dog owners and anyone after an easy, free outdoor outing close to town. Adjoining Gatton Park, a Capability Brown landscape, opens separately on selected days.
