Kinghams is a fine dining restaurant in a 17th-century cottage in Shere, once known as Hangman's Cottage. Open since 1993 and now run by Jack Forrest Foster and chef Mohssine El Faddi, it serves contemporary English cooking that draws on Mohssine's Moroccan heritage, in a cosy oak-beamed dining room with white linen tablecloths, plus an al fresco garden and heated gazebo in summer. Best suited to a proper booked-ahead lunch or dinner rather than a casual drop-in.
